I'm Dreaming of a Grey Christmas

This shoe needs no introduction, the Air Jordan Retro XI 'Cool Grey' was one of the most anticipated sneakers ever released.  Notorious for the riots it caused during its' original release in 2001, incidents were noted at several stores, most happening in Texas.  Patrons began lining up during the evening of December 22 for the release on the 23rd and pushing and shoving was reported.  Police even had to resort to macing some people at one spot who tried to rush the door, breaking a door in the process.

This shoe came up for online retailers at 12:00pm midnight, eastern standard time, by 12:02 Nikestore.com had crashed from too much traffic.  Similar things happened at Footlocker.com and Champs.com, the shoe was sold out within minutes and stores were out of stock within the first hour.  For those of you who were able to get the shoe, check out solecollector.com and nicekicks.com for matching shirts to go with the 'Cool Greys'.

Leave your thoughts on the madness this shoe, retailing at $175, caused below and let us know if you bought them, passed or think it's stupid to wait in line overnight to spend $175 on shoes.
