Top 5 under-appreciated NBA Stars

In the Christmas spirit I thought back to the pinnacle of NBA talent that the world has ever seen yet were not sufficiently given their due. These players are the definition of hustle, bad looks, great hair, and yet, around awesomeness.

1. Rick Fox

When people say that a picture is worth a thousand words...this picture is what they had in mind. But besides his luscious Jerry curls that drove women crazy and his real first name being "Ulrich", he had game. In his career Fox averaged 9.6 ppg 3.8 rpg and 2.8 apg while earning 3 championship rings. Plus you can't hate a man with Moves Like These. Eat your heart out Steve Nash, I will venture to say that Rick Fox is the best thing to come from Canada since the movie "Canadian Bacon".

2. Greg Ostertag

I'm not sure what is funnier, this picture of Greg Ostertag or the statement "Mutumbo dong slip pics" but that's neither here nor there. Career averages of 4.6 ppg and 5.5 rpg, Ostertag hustled and we all know that is all that really matters. On a serious note Ostertag became the first NBA player to play in a game after donating and organ to his ailing sister. He is a man of great stature and heart, and this story makes me warm and tingly inside . . .You're Welcome Chris Grant and the Cavs.

3. Ronald "Popeye" Jones

I know what you're thinking, how could this man possible get the nickname "Popeye"? I've been told that it goes back to the ancient cavemen days but this is unconfirmed. Despite looking like a crossbreed between This Guy and This Guy, "Popeye" averaged 7.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg in his career while having logging a monstrous 28 rebounds in one game alone. Off the court, "Popeye" enjoys long walks on the beach, snuggling next to the fire, and frightening every living person in the world. Random fact, Popeye's son Seth is an up and coming hockey star. Good for him.

4. Dan Majerle

It was quite difficult deciding what picture to post of Dan the man because of options such as I dare you to divert your eyes or This entire video. To this day I'm not too sure what made Mr. Majerle more famous, his basketball skills or his majestic tan. Either way, he is the sole reason This Song was created. For anyone still questioning my pick of "Thunder" Dan Majerle for this list, Watch in disbelief. Touche Mr. Majerle.

5. Detlef Schrempf

Not only does he hold the distinction of having the hardest name to spell on this list, but he also may or may not have had a Cereal named after him (According to sources, patent is still pending). Either way, Detlef averaged 13.9 ppg, 6.2 rpg and 3.4 apg for his career. But his most impressive career moment (Definitely not This One) happened when the group Band of Heroes game out with a song called Detlef Schrempf. If having a song named after you doesn't make you cool, then I don't know what does.

This is just a short list of amazing NBA stars that never were but should be appreciated for what they truly are...icons. Comment in your favorite players not on this list as honorable mentions.
